Alan McBride
Director, Transmission Services and Resource Qualification,
ISO New England
Mr. McBride joined ISO New England in June 2006 and for the first four
years his primary responsibility was Project Manager of New Generation
Qualification for the Forward Capacity Market. In 2010, he became the
Manager, Area Transmission Planning for northern New England. Mr.
McBride is currently the Director of Transmission Services and Resource
Qualification and he is responsible for the oversight of the interconnection
process for new generators and new elective transmission upgrades and
the qualification of resources for the Forward Capacity Market.
Before joining the ISO, he worked at Dynegy and then at Calpine. At
Dynegy and Calpine, Mr. McBride supported various transmission-related
activities associated with the development, interconnection and
commercial operation of merchant generators.
Before joining Dynegy, Mr. McBride worked at Power Technologies
Incorporated (now a division of Siemens), where he conducted various
transmission analysis studies, including the system impact studies of several
proposed generating facilities.
Mr. McBride has over 26 years of experience in various aspects of power
transmission system analysis and transmission services. He holds a B.S. in
Electrical Engineering from University College Dublin, in Ireland, an M.S. in
Electric Power Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an
M.B.A. from Purdue University.
