She later completed her Master of Environmental Management at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke and her MBA at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Maura’s early electric utility experience was at Southern California Edison, where she began with coordinating the company’s energy storage strategy. She then led the measurement initiative for the Preferred Resources Pilot, and later served as the Short Term Planning Manager, in which she managed a team that developed and maintained the strategy and models for the company’s day-ahead bids for the California Independent System Operator’s energy market.

Maura also has extensive experience in behavioral science and marketing with Duke University’s Center for Advanced Hindsight. There, she leveraged behavioral insights in partnership with banks, credit unions, and financial nonprofits to nudge customers to take financially healthy actions, such as save more money and pay off debt faster.
