Tom McDermott is the Solar Sub-sector Lead at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Tom leads the National Lab support of DOE’s Interconnection Innovation e-Xchange (i2X) program, which seeks to enable faster, simpler, and fairer interconnections of solar, wind, and hybrid storage resources without compromising grid reliability. He has a B.S. and M.E. in Electric Power Engineering from RPI, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech.  He has PE licenses in PA, MA, and VA. Tom is an IEEE Fellow and recipient of the 2021 IEEE PES Award for Excellence in Power Distribution Engineering.
